The iconic Midtown Grill at the Berlin Marriott Hotel is set to undergo a comprehensive renovation, with plans to reopen its doors in September 2025. This transformation will see the restaurant combine classic American steakhouse tradition with brasserie elements, all while maintaining a distinct urban atmosphere.

The central element of the renovation is the "Chronobar", a design inspired by the first traffic light in Berlin, which was installed at Potsdamer Platz in 1924. The Chronobar aims to create a space for people to connect past and present, serving as a focal point for the new-look Midtown Grill.

The ground floor of the hotel has been under renovation since April 2022, with the project expected to be completed by mid-December. Alongside the Midtown Grill, other areas being created include a new dining lounge and a "Quiet Lounge" designed as a retreat.

The design concept for the renovated Midtown Grill, as well as the lobby, bar, and restaurant, combines Berlin minimalism and Bauhaus elements. Materials such as marble, bronze, wood, and dark metal define the new character of these spaces. The interior of the Midtown Grill will reflect the minimalist style, with concrete, dark wood, and leather dominant features.

The renovation aims to enhance the quality of stay and hospitality in the public areas of the Berlin Marriott Hotel. The design of the renovated reception area will feature an open layout with clear lines and warm colours, while the goal is to combine functionality and personal service.

An expanded concierge zone will take centre stage in the renovated reception area, and the lobby, bar, and restaurant will feature a design that combines Bauhaus elements with minimalist Berlin style. The renovated Midtown Grill will offer 189 seats, including 36 outdoor seats.

The redesign of the lobby, bar, and restaurants was developed by Forsite Creative Europe together with the Global Design Team of Marriott International. The Berlin Marriott Hotel at Potsdamer Platz is undergoing renovation of its public areas until the end of 2025.

The renovation will create new zones for reception, bar, and gastronomy. The interior of these zones will reflect the minimalist style of the overall design. The renovated reception area is also expected to reopen by the end of the year.

In 2020, the rooms, suites, and conference areas at the Berlin Marriott Hotel were already modernized. With the current renovation, the overall image of the hotel will be completed, offering guests an unparalleled experience of contemporary luxury and timeless elegance.
