Marquez secures pole position in MotoGP qualifying at Barcelona, with Bagnaia falling short
In the sun-soaked circuit of Barcelona, the MotoGP qualifying took place under ideal conditions, with clear skies, an ambient temperature of 22°C (72°F), and a track temperature of 31°C (88°F).
The excitement was palpable as the riders took to the track for the final showdown. It was Alex Marquez who stole the spotlight, setting a new fastest time to secure pole position for the MotoGP Grand Prix in Barcelona.
Marquez's dominance was evident earlier in the day as well, as he led Q2 for the Sprint and Grand Prix of the MotoGP in Barcelona. His brother, Marc Marquez, started third in the Sprint and will line up second for the Grand Prix, just behind Fabio Quartararo who slots between the Marquez brothers in the grid order.
The second row for the MotoGP Grand Prix in Barcelona consists of Franco Morbidelli, Jorge Martin, and Takaaki Nakagami. Joan Mir, Fabio Di Giannantonio, Johann Zarco, Ai Ogura, and Enea Bastianini will start the race from the 7th to 11th positions.
Unfortunately, Brad Binder experienced a technical issue during Q2, missing out on a top 10 grid position. Maverick Viñales, Miguel Oliveira, Pol Espargaro, Brad Binder, and Jack Miller also failed to secure top 10 grid positions for the MotoGP Grand Prix in Barcelona.
Fermin Aldeguer came close to advancing to Q2 but missed out by a mere four thousandths of a second. Francesco Bagnaia qualified 21st for the Sprint and Grand Prix of the MotoGP in Barcelona.
Notably, Alex Marquez received the pole position for the Catalonia Grand Prix, which was explicitly confirmed during the qualifying session, although it was not originally mentioned in the query.
Luca Marini, Brad Binder, and Marco Bezzecchi will start the MotoGP Grand Prix in Barcelona from the 12th to 14th positions. The stage is set for an exciting race weekend in Barcelona.
