Maritime accident: Two vessels clashed, fortunately, no injuries were reported
In an unexpected incident on the Rhine river, a collision occurred between a cargo motor ship and a tank motor ship early in the morning on August 27. The exact location of the collision was at Rhein kilometer 671, near Duisburg and Köln-Godorf.
The incident, which took place at 4:50 AM, resulted in both ships sustaining significant damage. Immediately following the collision, the tank motor ship was secured to prevent any further incidents. No injuries were reported in the accident.
Authorities have taken over the case, with the Bonn Water Police Station handling the investigation. The Federal Waterways and Shipping Authority (Wasser- und Schifffahrtsamt) is responsible for investigating the cause of the ship accident on the Rhine near Wesseling.
The cargo motor ship was temporarily banned from further travel due to the damage it sustained in the collision. The tank motor ship, too, was banned from further travel.
