A 24-year-old defendant is currently on trial at the Berlin Regional Court, charged with robbery as stated in the indictment. The defendant is accused of committing robbery and robbery with violence against a motorist in Berlin-Neukölln, on Karl-Marx-Straße, on June 9, 2024.

According to the prosecution, around 6:00 PM, the defendant approached a driver who was stationary with the engine running in traffic. While engaged in conversation with the driver, the defendant's accomplice reportedly knocked repeatedly on the closed passenger door.

During the incident, the defendant allegedly reached through the open driver's window and snatched an expensive watch, valued at approximately 6,500 euros, off the driver's wrist. Immediately after the incident, both suspects fled the scene.

An eyewitness reported that the defendant ran into a building where several homeless people were present. The 49-year-old witness stated that the defendant boasted about the crime and waved the stolen watch in front of one of the cameras installed in the building.

The defendant's alleged escape route was via the roof of the building. Since the arrest, the defendant has been in custody. The defendant initially remained silent on the charges during the start of the trial.

Police officers nearby immediately pursued the alleged robbers after the incident, but the search results do not contain information about the accomplice of the accused alleged to have pulled the expensive watch pendant from the driver's hand.

The trial is taking place at the Berlin Regional Court, and four more trial days are scheduled until September 15. The defendant has no prior convictions. It remains to be seen whether the court will find the defendant guilty of the charges brought against him.
