In an unexpected turn of events, police in Bremen have detained two men, aged 26 and 28, following an altercation that took place in the city's Neustadt neighbourhood on Wednesday afternoon.

The incident, which occurred near a kiosk on Kornstraße, involved a 20-year-old man who was physically assaulted by two individuals who had exited a gray SUV. Initial findings suggest that the three men were acquainted before the altercation.

The 28-year-old driver, who was operating the SUV without a valid license, was under the influence of intoxicating substances during the incident. His passenger, the other suspect, reportedly held the 20-year-old man while the driver's companion struck him with a glass ashtray, which was found in the vehicle.

The 20-year-old victim sustained a head wound during the attack and was treated at the scene by emergency services. He declined further treatment at the hospital. Blood stains were also found on and in the gray SUV, as well as on the clothing of the detained suspects.

However, no detailed list of their acquaintances was explicitly named, and no further information was given about the 26-year-old suspect. The status of the glass ashtray found in the car in relation to the attack is not specified.

The 28-year-old driver was also driving without valid insurance. The police are currently investigating the incident further. The 20-year-old man who was attacked declined to press charges against the two detained suspects.
