Farmers demonstrate in Lower Saxony. - Man charged after hitting protestor with vehicle

A man aged 45 is facing charges for allegedly running over a farmer during a protest against the German government's agricultural policies in Friesoythe, Lower Saxony, on January 8. The authorities have accused the man of attempted murder, endangering road safety, and causing severe bodily harm.

At around 10:40 am, the incident took place at the edge of a tractor blockade on the Bundesstraße 72. The accused, in a Skoda, got held up by farmers' parked tractors. To get through the roadblock, he decided to ram his car through the tractors. Unfortunately, he hit one of the protesters, who he clearly saw, with his vehicle. As a result, the man's legs were run over, and he was pulled a few meters.

The angry protesters followed the fleeing driver and notified the police. The suspect was soon caught and arrested nearby. The injured farmer had injuries to his head and legs and was airlifted to the hospital by a rescue helicopter. Remarkably, he survived the incident.

Now, the court needs to determine the true events of the morning of January 8 and if the driver intentionally caused the death of the farmer.
