Major Tech Companies Push Ahead Digital Economy Agenda to Align with Nigeria's $1 Trillion 2030 Goal

GITEX Nigeria, a groundbreaking event, is set to take place across Abuja and Lagos from 1st to 4th September 2025. Organised by KAOUN International, the global organiser of GITEX events, this gathering aims to bring together technology visionaries, industry leaders, and decision-makers overseeing the digital transformation of non-tech sectors in West Africa.

The event kicks off in Abuja on 1st September with a high-level Government Leadership & AI Summit. The Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, in collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), is supporting the event. Notably, the government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria will be represented by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Ali Pantami.

On the opening day, the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy for the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Hon. Dr. Bosun Tijani, emphasised the importance of building and deploying AI infrastructure and solutions for Nigeria and Africa. He also highlighted that GITEX Nigeria serves as a catalyst for developing world-class AI infrastructure that promotes scalability, sovereignty, and global competitiveness.

IBM operated by MIBB has affirmed its presence in West Africa, specifically in Nigeria, to enable digital transformation. Vishnu Taimni, General Manager of IBM operated by MIBB, emphasised Nigeria as a strategic priority for the company. IBM's focus in Nigeria is on delivering impactful solutions across key sectors such as banking, telecoms, government, and education.

The event transitions to Lagos from 3rd to 4th September. The Tech Expo & Future Economy Conference will take place at the Eko Hotel Convention Centre, while the Startup Festival will be held at the Landmark Centre. Notably, Lagos, home to 23 of Nigeria's 28 fastest-growing companies, will host the GITEX Nigeria Startup Festival, which will be Nigeria's largest and most globally diverse investor programme.

The event is endorsed by the Lagos State Government and runs with support from partners AWS, Cisco, the International Finance Corporation (IFC), Kaspersky, Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Federal Ministry of Youth Development, and Space42.

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will present its pan-African timbuktoo initiative at the GITEX Nigeria event. Timbuktoo brings public and private capital together at a global scale to support and empower startups solving macro challenges.
