Mahindra's Vision.SXT Concept Unveiled: Could This Be the Next Bold-Designed Thar?
Mahindra Unveils Vision.SXT: A Versatile Off-Roader and Lifestyle Vehicle
Mahindra & Mahindra, India's leading SUV manufacturer, has revealed its latest concept SUV - the Vision.SXT. This new model, showcased on August 15, 2025, is set to make waves in the automotive industry with its versatile capabilities and distinctive design.
The Vision.SXT is poised to challenge established players like the Force Gurkha and Maruti Suzuki Jimny, thanks to its all-wheel-drive (AWD) capabilities. With an anticipated best-in-class off-road capability among the concepts, the Vision.SXT promises an unparalleled off-road experience.
While the exact launch timeline beyond 2027 remains unspecified, Mahindra has confirmed that the production model of the Vision.SXT is expected to hit the markets after this date. The company's commitment to developing "India-first" global SUVs will be highlighted through the production of the Vision.SXT.
As for the interior details, they remain under wraps for now. However, it's anticipated that the Vision.SXT's interior will share a similar layout with the Vision.T, featuring digital displays, connected technology, and premium materials.
Key design elements of the Vision.SXT include an upright stance, short bed, boxy grille, square headlamps with vertical Daytime Running Lights (DRLs), a massive front bumper, two spare wheels in the bed, chunky off-road tyres, a small roll cage on the bed, stubby taillamps, and rear door handles on the C-pillar.
The Vision.SXT concept is a more hardcore off-roader among the four, with the production model likely to serve as a lifestyle vehicle as well. The Vision.SXT is based on Mahindra's new nu_iQ platform, ensuring robustness and efficiency.
The Vision.SXT will support multiple powertrains, including Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) options like petrol and diesel, and Electric Vehicle (EV) options. The length of the Vision.SXT is up to 4230 mm, and it boasts a wheelbase of 2665 mm.
In the international market, the Vision.SXT, if it falls into the compact SUV category, will compete with models like the Hyundai Creta. Given that Mahindra's Vision X concept targets the sub-four-meter urban SUV market segment, the Vision.SXT directly competes with such vehicles.
Depending on its final market positioning, the Vision.SXT could also rival compact SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier, Kia Seltos, and MG Hector. The Vision.SXT will offer drivetrain options of Front-Wheel Drive (FWD) or AWD, depending on the model.
All four Vision concepts (S, T, X, and SXT) will be manufactured at Mahindra's Chakan plant in Pune. If the Vision.SXT proves successful, it could mark a significant step forward in Mahindra's global ambitions, with the model likely to be manufactured globally from India.
Stay tuned for more updates on the Vision.SXT as we approach its launch in the coming years. With its unique blend of off-road capability, lifestyle appeal, and advanced technology, the Vision.SXT is set to redefine the compact SUV segment.
