Maharashtra Government Agrees to Advance Key Infrastructure Developments
Maharashtra Cabinet Approves Major Infrastructure Projects and Aid Increases
In a significant move, the Maharashtra Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, has approved several key infrastructure projects and aid increases during a meeting held at the Sahyadri Guest House.
One of the most notable decisions was the approval of the Metro Line 11 project in Mumbai. This extension of Metro Line 4 (Wadala-Thane-Kasara Vadavli) will connect Anik Depot-Wadala to the Gateway of India, spanning approximately 13.1 km. Around 70% of the Metro Line 11 corridor will be underground, featuring 13 underground stations and one elevated station. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 23,487.51 crore.
Infrastructure clearance for the Metro Line 11 project has already been granted by the Cabinet sub-committee. The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL) will be responsible for its implementation.
The Cabinet also approved the procurement of 238 air-conditioned local trains under MUTP-3 and MUTP-3A, with a provision of Rs 4,826 crore.
In addition to infrastructure development, the Cabinet has made significant decisions to increase aid for beneficiaries under various schemes. From October 2025, monthly aid will increase from Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,500 for 24,003 beneficiaries under the Shravanbal scheme. The same increase will be implemented for over 4.5 lakh beneficiaries under the Niradhar Yojana. Moreover, a Rs 1,000 hike in monthly assistance has been approved for beneficiaries under the Shravanbal Seva Rajya Pension Scheme, the Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Yojana, and the Pension Bhatta Yojana.
An additional Rs 570 crore has been allocated to support these aid increases for beneficiaries under the Niradhar Yojana and the Shravanbal scheme.
Furthermore, the Cabinet approved a proposal for constructing the third and fourth suburban railway lines between Pune and Lonavala, with an investment of Rs 5,100 crore. Other metro initiatives, including the Thane Circular Metro, Pune Metro Line-2 and Line-4, and Nagpur Metro Phase-2, have also received sanctioned loans.
A total of Rs 14,907 crore has been earmarked for the development of 136 km of new suburban rail corridors, including Panvel-Vasai, Kasara-Asangaon, and Badlapur-Karjat.
However, the search results do not provide information on which person approved the Metro Line 11 project in Mumbai.
These decisions aim to improve infrastructure and support those in need, demonstrating the Maharashtra Cabinet's commitment to progress and welfare.
