Luxury Car Prices Reduced Under New GST Regime in India

The Indian market for luxury cars is seeing a shift, with several manufacturers reducing the prices of their models due to the new Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime. Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi are among the brands that have adjusted their pricing structures.

Starting with Mercedes-Benz, the AMG GLC43 Coupe now retails at ₹1.10 Crore, while the GLE 450 4MATIC is now available for ₹1.07 Crore. The GLS 450d AMG Line, on the other hand, is priced at ₹1.34 Crore. The S-Class 450 4MATIC is now priced at ₹1.88 Crore, and the E-Class LWB now retails at ₹91 Lakh for the E 450 trim, marking a decrease of approximately ₹6 Lakh. The GLC 300 4MATIC has received a price cut of ₹5.3 Lakh, making it available at ₹73.95 Lakh.

BMW's lineup in India also saw adjustments. The X5 is priced at ₹97.80 Lakhs, and the X4 is available at ₹96.20 Lakhs. The X4's price remains unchanged, but the X5 has seen a slight reduction.

Audi, too, has adjusted its prices. The Q7 is now priced at ₹90.48 Lakhs, and the Q8 is available at ₹1.17 Crore. The Q7 has seen a slight decrease, while the Q8 remains steady. The A 200d is now available at ₹45.95 Lakh, marking a decrease of ₹2.6 Lakh. The GLA 220d 4MATIC AMG Line is priced at ₹52.70 Lakh, with a price cut of ₹3.8 Lakh.

Interestingly, the prices of luxury electric cars remain unaffected under the new GST regime, continuing to be taxed at five per cent.

These price adjustments are part of a broader trend across the luxury car market in India, with reductions ranging from approximately ₹5 Lakh to ₹8 Lakh depending on the model series. The new GST regime seems to be making luxury cars more affordable for consumers in India.
