Luxury sports car, the final Ferrari Daytona SP3, fetches an astounding $26 million at auction.
In a remarkable display at the RM Sotheby's Monterey Car Week sale, the Ferrari Daytona SP3 sold for an astounding $26 million. This makes it the most expensive new Prancing Horse ever sold at auction.
The one-of-a-kind Daytona SP3, known as the "Tailor Made," was built with the specific goal of raising funds for charity. All proceeds from the sale will go to The Ferrari Foundation, a public charity that supports global educational programs.
The Daytona SP3's sculpted exterior features a unique two-tone livery, while its interior is primarily black, with yellow accents and a monotone racing flag motif. Under the hood, the V-12 engine is naturally aspirated and produces an impressive 829 hp. The SP3 can accelerate from zero to 62 mph in under three seconds and reach a top speed of 211 mph.
Bryan Hood, a digital staff writer at the magazine, reported on the historic sale. Prior to joining the magazine, Bryan worked for the New York Post, Artinfo, and New York magazine. The Ferrari Daytona SP3 "Tailor Made" has additional photos available for viewing online.
The Ferrari Foundation, founded by Ferrari, focuses on helping fund educational initiatives around the world. By supporting this auction, Ferrari and RM Sotheby's have made a significant contribution to global education. The sale of the Daytona SP3 marks a new milestone in both automotive history and charitable giving.
