Luxury car manufacturer Lexus launches a more budget-friendly plug-in hybrid vehicle.
The Japanese automaker Lexus has announced the pricing and key features of the 2026 RX, the latest iteration of its popular luxury SUV. The base price of the 2026 Lexus RX stands at $51,175, a slight increase of $600 compared to last year's model, which includes a $1,450 destination fee.
The RX 450h+ plug-in hybrid lineup is expanding, with the introduction of a new Premium trim. This model should come equipped with a power liftgate, a moonroof, and 21-inch wheels. The RX 450h+ Premium starts at $66,680, making it more affordable than the $73,310 RX 450h+ Luxury.
The RX 450h+ plug-in hybrid is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, three electric motors, and an 18.1 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, delivering a combined output of 304 hp (227 kW / 308 PS). It boasts an electric-only range of 38 miles (61 km).
The interior of models with the new appearance package features a black colour scheme with gray contrast stitching. Exterior colour choices for these models include Ultra White, Cloudburst Gray, Iridium, Incognito, or Caviar, each with black accents, black 21-inch wheels, and orange brake calipers.
Standard features in the 2026 Lexus RX include a heated steering wheel, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 14-inch infotainment system. The vehicle will also feature an ambient lighting system and a 12-speaker audio system.
Interestingly, the RX 350 does not come with a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, but a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder that develops 275 hp (205 kW / 279 PS) and 317 lb-ft (429 Nm) of torque.
The F Sport Handling and F Sport Performance variants can be equipped with a new appearance package based on last year's Black Line Special Edition.
The RX lineup offers seven trims and four powertrains, providing a wide range of options for potential buyers. It's worth noting that the pricing increase of $600 appears to be across the board for the 2026 Lexus RX.
Lastly, the 2026 RX will come standard with a wireless smartphone charger, further enhancing its convenience and appeal. The new RX 450h+ Premium costs $6,630 less than the Luxury variant, offering a more affordable entry point into the plug-in hybrid segment.
