The British automotive industry has unveiled a limited edition of the iconic Land Rover Defender, paying homage to one of the nation's most revered figures – Sir Winston Churchill. The Land Rover Defender V8 Churchill Edition, a remake inspired by the Series I Land Rover gifted to Churchill in 1954, is a testament to the enduring legacy of this historical vehicle.

This special edition Defender comes in two body styles – the three-door 90 and the five-door 110. Both versions are available as Station Wagons, Soft Tops, and Hard-Tops. The 90 Station Wagon starts at £279,000, while the Soft Top variant costs £291,000, and the priciest Defender 110 hard-top variant retails for £295,200. Each model comes with Bronze Green paint, carefully matched to Churchill's original soft-top 4X4, and a Bridge of Weir leather interior.

Under the hood, the Churchill Edition is powered by a 399bhp 5.0-litre petrol V8 engine, capable of propelling the 90 from 0-to-62mph in 5.9 seconds, and the 110 in 6.1 seconds. The top speed for both versions is a impressive 106mph.

The Churchill Edition boasts period-correct details, such as a galvanised front bumper, classic metal mesh grille, and a 'UKE 80' decal on the front wings – the original number plate of Churchill's Series I Land Rover. It also features bespoke badging on the rear. However, unlike the Series I, this edition does not come with a cigar storage area in the cabin.

The Soft Top variants have a made-to-measure canvas hood for open-air driving, perfect for those sunny British days. The three-door 90 Soft Top variant costs £291,000, making it the most expensive Soft Top model in the Churchill Edition lineup.

The Land Rover Defender V8 Churchill Edition has been limited to 10 units, making it an exclusive collectible for automotive enthusiasts. Previously owned by actor Rowan Atkinson before being acquired by Jaguar Land Rover, this edition has a high asking price, starting from £232,500 before tax, which is more than a new Ferrari 296GTS.

This special edition Defender is a fitting tribute to Sir Winston Churchill, a man who embodied the spirit of resilience, adventure, and British charm. Whether you're a fan of history, off-roading, or simply appreciate a piece of automotive heritage, the Land Rover Defender V8 Churchill Edition is a must-see.
