Luxurious Wedding Ceremony Held at the Regal Liechtenstein Royal Residence

In the picturesque Alpine nation of Liechtenstein, a fairy-tale wedding took place on Saturday. The 28-year-old Princess Marie Caroline, affectionately known as "Europe's richest princess" by the Swiss tabloid "Blick," exchanged vows with her husband, Leopoldo Maduro Vollmer, an investment manager of Venezuelan origin.

The wedding ceremony was held in the cathedral of Vaduz, the capital city, where citizens gathered to cheer for the couple. The bride wore a stunning long white dress adorned with embroidery and puff sleeves, while the groom donned a traditional morning coat.

Prince Hans-Adam II, the current head of state of the constitutional monarchy of Liechtenstein, presided over the ceremony. It is unusual for a princess to marry a commoner, according to nobility expert Lisbeth Bischof, but she noted that it is more common for commoners to marry royals in modern times.

Princess Marie Caroline is a member of the princely house of Liechtenstein, a wealthy family due to their bank, ownership of real estate, and forests. Her mother, Duchess Sophie Elizabeth Marie Gabrielle in Bavaria, is a daughter of a Bavarian duke and a Swedish countess.

Leopoldo Maduro Vollmer, 34 years old, is the first commoner to marry into the Liechtenstein royal family in over a century. The celebration following the wedding took place in the castle of the princely family, where guests enjoyed a lavish feast and festivities.

With approximately 40,000 inhabitants, Liechtenstein, nestled in the heart of the Alps, is only half the size of Bremen with 160 square kilometers. Despite its small size, Liechtenstein boasts a rich history and a thriving economy, making it a fitting backdrop for this royal wedding.
