Lünen’s Library Celebrates Multilingual Storytelling for National Reading Aloud Day

Lünen’s Persiluhr Community Library will take part in Germany’s National Reading Aloud Day on November 21, 2025. The annual event, organized by the Reading Foundation, Die Zeit, and the German Rail Foundation, promotes reading and storytelling across the country. This year’s session will feature a multilingual reading of The Rainbow Fish for children and families.

The event will run from 4 to 6 p.m., with readings held in seven languages: German, English, Ukrainian, Russian, Polish, Arabic, and Turkish. Native speakers and library staff will take turns bringing the story to life. Children are encouraged to explore the library while listening to the different versions of the book.

The library’s participation offers families a chance to experience a well-loved children’s book in new ways. By presenting the story in multiple languages, the event also highlights the diversity of Lünen’s community. Organizers hope the afternoon will leave young listeners eager to discover more books.
