Lions Club of Helmstedt presents a €500 donation to the DLRG
In the heart of Germany, the Helmstedt local branch of the Lions Club, along with its counterpart in Königslutter, recently organised a successful summer festival. The event culminated in a generous donation of 500 euros to the Helmstedt local branch of the German Life Saving Association (DLRG).
The donation is set to support the DLRG's vital work in swimming and lifesaving training, water safety education, and regional water rescue services. Andreas Warmbein, President of the Lions Club Helmstedt, emphasised the importance of learning to swim, stating that it can save lives.
The Lions Clubs are known for their commitment to children and youth projects, as well as their support for the visually impaired and promotion of literacy. In Helmstedt, they also engage in community service projects, contributing to social, cultural, and charitable initiatives locally.
Their work extends beyond the local community, with a global reach. The Lions Clubs work both domestically and internationally, with projects aimed at helping those in need, regardless of location or circumstance. They are also involved in cultural projects and advocate for international understanding, tolerance, humanitarianism, and education.
Martin Lehmann from the Lions Club Helmstedt expressed his pleasure at contributing to training and water safety with the donation. The Helmstedt local branch of the DLRG offers beginner swimming courses, lifesaving training, and various water safety programmes.
The Lions Clubs' activities are not limited to a specific area and can include a wide range of social and cultural goals. They fill the gaps where state action ends, both locally, nationally, and internationally. In third-world countries, for example, the Lions Clubs work tirelessly to help those in need.
The motto of the Lions Clubs, "We serve", encapsulates their dedication to serving their communities and the world at large. The donation to the DLRG is a testament to their commitment to helping others and ensuring a safer, more educated world.
