Marla-Svenja Liebich, a convicted right-wing extremist, has failed to report to serve her 18-month prison sentence at the women's prison in Chemnitz. A warrant for her arrest has been issued due to this non-compliance.

The sentencing was handed down when Liebich was still known as Sven Liebich, in July 2023 for incitement of the people, defamation, and insult. However, recent developments have sparked a debate in the Bundestag, particularly regarding the new Self-Determination Act.

On Friday evening, Liebich announced through the platform X that they would begin serving their sentence at 10 pm. However, no information was provided about any interviews Liebich may have granted beforehand, and no details about their current whereabouts are known.

A post on platform X, allegedly from Liebich, stated that they made a decision to change their gender without informing their lawyer or family. Federal Minister of the Interior Alexander Dobrindt (CSU) accused Liebich of abusing the new regulations and called for changes to the law, stating that the change of gender seems to be a clear case of abuse in the context of Liebich's case.

The Self-Determination Act, which came into force in November 2024, significantly simplified changes to the gender entry and first name. However, the case of Liebich has reignited the debate about the new Act.

Demonstrators gathered in front of the justice facility in Chemnitz in the evening, numbering at least 60 people. The police spokesperson reported that the splinter party "Free Saxony" had registered the gathering. An audio file was played at the rally, but no details about its content were provided.

No details about search measures were provided by Chief Prosecutor Dennis Cernota due to operational reasons. The search results do not mention a third country to which Marla-Svenja Liebich allegedly fled; only a general indication that she hinted at having fled abroad is provided without specifying any countries.

The statements were made by Dobrindt to the news portal "ZDFheute.de". The post on platform X also stated that an international arrest warrant has been issued. It is unclear if Liebich has responded to this warrant or if they have been apprehended.

As the situation continues to develop, the debate surrounding the Self-Determination Act and the actions of Marla-Svenja Liebich remain topics of interest and concern.
