LGND AI secures $9 million to enhance the quality of Earth data accumulation

LGND, a pioneering tech company, has announced that it has secured $9 million in funding, led by Javelin Venture Partners. This funding round also saw the participation of several other firms and notable angel investors, including John Hanke, the founder of Keyhole/Google Maps.

The funding will support LGND's mission to make Earth data universally accessible and actionable through AI. The company is building infrastructure to create, tune, store, and serve geographic embeddings at scale, a technology that is considered revolutionary and is set to rebuild the entire Earth observation ecosystem.

Geographic embeddings change the way we interact with Earth data and force a rethinking of previous limitations. LGND's geographic embeddings factory creates scalable and real-time datasets, enabling faster, more adaptable Earth data analysis for a broader range of users.

The new funding will also support the launch of a no-code geospatial app, an enterprise solution, and expanded developer access. Nathaniel Manning, the CEO and cofounder of LGND, and Dan Hammer, the Chief Product Officer, are leading this ambitious project. Bruno Sánchez-Andrade Nuño, the Chief Science Officer and a cofounder of LGND, is overseeing the scientific aspects of the project.

Noah Doyle of Javelin Venture Partners will join LGND's board as part of the funding deal. The shift towards geographic embeddings is considered a game-changer, requiring a complete overhaul of the Earth observation ecosystem. LGND's platform, built on this groundbreaking technology, aims to make complex and expensive Earth data more accessible for various applications.

This funding round marks a significant step forward for LGND in its quest to democratise Earth data and make it actionable for everyone. With its innovative approach and committed team, LGND is poised to revolutionise the way we understand and interact with our planet.
