Lexington Mom Wins $100,000 After Son's Lucky Lottery Prediction

A mother of three from Lexington, North Carolina, has won $100,000 from a scratch-off lottery ticket. The woman, whose name has not been released, claimed her prize at the North Carolina Education Lottery headquarters this week. Her lucky number, 55, turned out to be the key to her unexpected fortune.

The winning ticket came from the $30 MAX-A-MILLION scratch-off game, which offers prizes up to $1 million. The woman bought hers at the Quality Mart on Cotton Grove Road in Lexington. While sitting in her car with her husband, she scratched off the ticket—only to discover she had matched the winning number.

Her reaction was one of sheer disbelief. One of her children had joked that number 55 would bring her luck, and her son had even predicted she would win with it. When the number appeared, she struggled to accept it was real. The MAX-A-MILLION game gives players a 1 in 2.95 chance of winning any prize. After taxes, the woman's $100,000 win left her with $71,758. She has already decided how to use the money: some will go toward home repairs, while the rest will be saved for the future.

The North Carolina Education Lottery officially confirmed the win on Monday. The woman's story adds to the list of big wins from the MAX-A-MILLION game, which has previously awarded a $1 million prize to another player in February. Her winnings will now help secure her family's financial needs.
