Leipzig's Xavi Departs
Tottenham Hotspur Secures Signature of Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig
In a significant move for both clubs, Tottenham Hotspur has completed the transfer of Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig. The Dutch national team midfielder, who scored 22 goals and provided 24 assists in 78 competitive games for Leipzig, will now don the number 7 jersey for Spurs.
Leipzig's head coach Ole Werner will have to adjust his midfield plans following Simons' departure. The transfer fee for the 22-year-old, who was also reportedly of interest to German record champions Bayern Munich, is estimated to be €60 million.
Simons expressed his happiness about joining Tottenham and his eagerness to start playing. He said, "I am thrilled to be joining Tottenham Hotspur. I can't wait to get started and give everything for this great club."
Meanwhile, Leipzig is considering English U21 European Champion Harvey Elliott as a possible replacement for Simons. Elliott, who was personally developed under Jürgen Klopp at Liverpool FC, is currently at the Reds. If the transfer materialises, it could be a significant move for Leipzig, often referred to as the Saxons.
RB Leipzig is exploring the possibility of strengthening their team further. While the transfer of Harvey Elliott from Liverpool FC to Leipzig is not yet confirmed, the club is keen on the young English midfielder.
Jürgen Klopp, global RB football chief, played a significant role in Harvey Elliott's development at Liverpool FC. If Elliott were to join Leipzig, he would be a potential new beacon of hope for the club.
The transfer of Xavi Simons was completed just before RB's Bundesliga home opener against 1. FC Heidenheim. As the dust settles on this high-profile move, both clubs look forward to the upcoming season with renewed optimism.
