Leipzig honors projects benefitting single parents with its Family Friendliness Award

The city of Leipzig has honoured two exceptional projects that aim to support single parents. This year's Family-Friendliness Prize was awarded to the "Hand in Hand" project and the "Happy Birthday" initiative.

In the Recognition Prize category, two employees from the "Hand in Hand" project of the Leipzig Children's Aid Association were awarded. The winners organise family afternoons and weekend trips for single parents, providing much-needed social interaction and fun activities.

The Innovation Prize, similarly endowed with 2,500 euros, was awarded to the "Happy Birthday" project, initiated by Constanze Kreisel. Unlike the "Hand in Hand" project, the "Happy Birthday" project focuses on making children's birthday parties possible for single parents receiving social benefits.

Contrary to some rumours, Constanze Kreisel does not work on the "Hand in Hand" project, nor is she an employee of the Leipzig Children's Aid Association. Her "Happy Birthday" project is not a part of the association either. Instead, it is an independent initiative that brings joy to children's birthdays.

Despite not being a part of the Leipzig Children's Aid Association, the "Happy Birthday" project is still a remarkable contribution to the city's support for single parents. It provides activities that bring happiness to children and their parents, making their special day memorable.

This year's focus of the award was on support for single parents, and both the "Hand in Hand" project and the "Happy Birthday" initiative have proven to be valuable in this regard. The "Hand in Hand" project offers ongoing activities, such as workshops, while the "Happy Birthday" project focuses on one-off events like birthday parties.

Regrettably, there is no information available about the person who received the Innovation Prize for the "Happy Birthday" project. However, it is clear that both projects have made a significant impact in the lives of single parents and their children in Leipzig.
