Top Scorers in the Premier League: A Look at the Stats

Harry Kane, currently playing for Bayern Munich, holds the second-highest number of Premier League goals with 213, just behind Alan Shearer's record of 260. However, when penalties are excluded, Kane ranks third with 180 goals, lagging behind Shearer's 204 and Mohamed Salah's 153.

Salah, the current Liverpool forward, is the highest-scoring foreign player in the Premier League with 187 goals. Interestingly, 34 of these goals have come from penalties, making him one of the two players with the most penalty goals.

The player with the most penalties scored in the Premier League is none other than Alan Shearer, who converted 56 spot-kicks. Les Ferdinand, on the other hand, never took a penalty throughout his career in normal time. Andy Cole, a former teammate of Ferdinand, took only two penalties, missing his first one.

Thierry Henry, with 152 Premier League goals without penalties, places him 7th in the list without penalties. Robbie Fowler, with 146, is 10th. Jermain Defoe and Les Ferdinand are not far behind, with 148 and 149 goals without penalties respectively, placing them 9th and 8th.

Wayne Rooney is in the top ten of the non-penalty goalscorers list, but has the lowest conversion rate at 68%.

Notably, Shearer is the only player to have scored at least a century of Premier League goals for two different clubs. He scored 112 goals for Blackburn Rovers and 148 goals for Newcastle United. Aguero, on the other hand, is the only player to have scored at least four goals in a single Premier League match on three separate occasions.

Removing penalties from the goal record, Frank Lampard moves out of the top ten scorers with 43 of his 177 strikes coming from the spot.

Shearer won the Premier League title with Blackburn in 1995, their first league triumph in 81 years. Aguero also has a title to his name, having won the Premier League with Manchester City in 2012.

Kane's recent miss from the penalty spot was the first time he wasn't successful from the spot since the 2022 World Cup. Aguero, meanwhile, has converted 27 out of his 33 penalties in the Premier League.

Salah, who needs to score 74 more goals to surpass Shearer's record, currently holds the 18th position in the all-time Premier League goalscorers list, with Shearer still in first place. Kane, despite his departure from Tottenham, remains in second place with 213 goals (180 without penalties).
