Leader advocating for the loosening of COVID-19 restrictions among German medical professionals
In a recent proposal, Andreas Gassen, the chairman of the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians, has suggested conducting a scientifically monitored model project at large-scale events in stadiums. The project would involve strict adherence to tests, mask-wearing, and social distancing rules, even for crowds of up to 60,000 spectators.
A photograph published by dts Nachrichtenagentur provides a visual illustration of this proposal. The image depicts passengers wearing mouth and nose protection, adhering to protective measures against Corona. The photograph showcases the use of protective measures by passengers, with each individual wearing a mask. It is a depiction of passengers wearing protective gear.
Gassen believes that events with 5,000 to 8,000 people could take place in a stadium designed for 60,000 people. He asserts that it is crucial to protect risk groups, but stresses that it is not necessary to panic if a healthy person contracts Corona.
However, Gassen also cautions against being reckless. He states that numbers such as the R-value or infection numbers should not be relied on too much. He proposes considering several smaller "continuous waves" instead of a single second wave.
Fortunately, hospitals in Germany currently have significant free intensive care capacities, and the number of intensive care patients and deaths remains at a low level. Gassen states that there are currently no explosive Corona hotspots in Germany.
Given these circumstances, Gassen believes the numbers provide reason to rethink Corona measures. Yet, he warns against taking unnecessary risks, emphasising the importance of maintaining protective measures. The photograph, a visual representation of passengers with masks on, serves as a reminder of the ongoing need for precautions.
