Internet Fraud Warnings Issued in Mecklenburgische Seenplatte and Vorpommern-Greifswald Districts

In a recent development, three cases of internet fraud have been reported in the districts of Mecklenburgische Seenplatte and Vorpommern-Greifswald, causing a total damage of 73,000 euros. The perpetrators used a similar modus operandi in all three cases, promising investments in cryptocurrencies to multiply one's own money.

The police have issued a warning against such fraud schemes on the internet. It is crucial to exercise caution with personal data and approach online advertisements with skepticism. The fraudsters typically establish contact via email, WhatsApp, or phone calls, where the authenticity of the situation is repeatedly assured.

In some cases, the perpetrators even used well-known political figures to gain the user's trust. However, it's important to note that there are no publicly available search results or official information identifying specific persons or organizations responsible for these frauds in August 2025.

The initial payment demanded was around 200 euros, which was to be paid into a designated account. Further payment demands followed, usually justified by the need to make an alleged withdrawal possible. In one case, the fraudsters demanded the transmission of the ID card to open the alleged account abroad. However, in no case did a withdrawal occur, and after a longer period of time and several high payments, the contact with the perpetrators was completely cut off.

Investing money online carries high risks due to unverifiable platform authenticity. For investment inquiries, it is advisable to consult your bank for information.
