In a concerning incident, an elderly couple in the Herzogtum Lauenburg district fell victim to a phone scam on August 24, 2025. The scam involved perpetrators posing as investigators from the criminal police, claiming that the victims' residence was on a burglar gang's list and sending an undercover agent to document and secure valuable items.
The police are urging the public to be vigilant against such scams. Here are some tips to help protect yourself:

The police in Geesthacht are currently investigating the case and are searching for a person estimated to be about 30 years old, 1.70 to 1.75 meters tall, slim build, narrow-faced, bald with black hair, well-groomed, wearing black clothing and a black hat.
