Law enforcement officials in Bremen have uncovered a cache of fake merchandise.
In an unexpected turn of events, the Bremen Police discovered a large quantity of suspected counterfeit branded goods during a traffic stop in the Walle district on Monday evening.
The incident occurred around 6 p.m., when officers stopped a vehicle driven by a 22-year-old man. Upon inspection, it was found that the driver did not have a valid driver's license, leading to a criminal complaint being filed against him.
During the stop, officers also noticed the suspicious quality of the goods in the vehicle, which suggested a high suspicion that they were counterfeit. The driver was found to be carrying a counterfeit Gucci handbag.
Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the driver was about to lock a self-storage unit. When the renter, a 27-year-old man, was called to open the storage unit, officers discovered numerous items bearing the logos of well-known luxury brands such as Adidas and Nike.
Both suspects are now facing charges for violating trademark law. The seized counterfeit goods were taken away by the Technical Relief Agency (THW) under police escort.
