In a tense turn of events in Berlin, a pro-Palestinian protest recently ended in violence, resulting in numerous investigations by the authorities.

The incident, which occurred on a busy city street, saw a total of 94 protesters being recorded by the police. The altercation between a Berlin police officer and an Irish pro-Palestinian protester, a 25-year-old national, was the most notable event of the day.

The violent encounter was captured on video, showing the police officer punching the protester twice in the face, resulting in blood from the victim's nose. This incident has sparked a significant online reaction, prompting investigations into various matters.

The Berlin Senate was informed about the incident by the Federal Foreign Office, and the Irish Embassy in Berlin also contacted the authorities following the altercation. The investigations cover a wide range of offences, including assault, resistance, insults, bodily harm, illegal residence, and the use of unconstitutional and terrorist organization symbols.

The officer involved in the altercation is under investigation for assault while in office, and the protester is being investigated for insulting and resisting an officer. Additionally, investigations have been launched against suspected perpetrators of online threats towards the officer, due to the defamation, threats, insults, and death threats the officer has faced online.

The police enforced the dispersal of the protest using force after repeated requests and dispersal orders were ignored. The protesters met the police with strong resistance during the dispersal.

It's worth noting that the Irish Foreign Ministry has referred to the protester using gender-neutral pronouns, while the Berlin police identified the protester as a woman. The search results do not provide the name or specific identity of the person under investigation by the authorities for use of force and verbal attacks against the police who also refused to disperse.

The police have initiated a total of 96 investigations in response to the pro-Palestinian protest. More complaints are being received due to the widespread circulation of videos showing the use of force.

As the investigations continue, the Berlin police and the authorities are working to ensure peace and order in the city.
