Law Enforcement Activities During Middle East Conflict Protests

In an unexpected turn of events, approximately 100 individuals gathered at Rosenthal Square and Hackescher Market in response to the ongoing Middle East conflict. The leader of the unauthorized assembly, held in the evening, has not been publicly identified.

The gathering, which saw a significant presence of law enforcement officers, resulted in a series of investigations and detentions. A total of 96 criminal investigations were initiated, with the primary focus on suspected use of unconstitutional and terrorist organization symbols, assault and resistance against law enforcement officers, insults, assault and battery, and suspected illegal residence.

The law enforcement officers, who deployed several hundred officers to address the unauthorized gathering, also reported instances of verbal aggression from some individuals. Some individuals continued to exhibit verbal aggression towards law enforcement officers, while others resorted to physical aggression. As a result, some individuals had to be forcibly removed, leading to further incidents of insults, physical assaults, and resistance against law enforcement officers.

80 individuals were detained and checked due to unlawful and prohibited slogans, while 94 individuals were subject to freedom-restricting measures. All individuals on Rosenthal Street were ordered to disperse.

Investigations also revealed that suspected illegal residence was one of the reasons for the investigations. The investigations include allegations of assault and battery, in addition to the other charges.

Despite efforts to identify a gathering leader, no leader or new leader was identified at the event. It is unclear whether the gathering will continue or if the situation will escalate further. The public is advised to stay informed and to maintain peace and order in the area.
