Law enforcement is currently probing a suspected bike theft.
On the night of September 7, 2025, a 39-year-old suspect was provisionally arrested for aggravated theft in Aachen. The incident occurred around 00:30 on Wirichsbongardstraße, where the suspect stole a bicycle.
According to the Aachen Police, the suspect has a history of interactions with the authorities and was recently released from prison. This known individual was apprehended by the Aachen Police following the theft.
Two young witnesses, both 18 years old, were present during the incident and chased the suspect after the theft. They immediately apprehended him at the intersection of Kapuzinergraben and Theaterplatz, where the suspect fell and injured his face.
Upon arrest, the police found a folding knife in the suspect's pocket. The bicycle's owner contacted the police during the investigation and can now pick up his bicycle at the police station.
