On Thursday evening, a 31-year-old man, who is currently homeless in Germany, was apprehended in Franz-Pückler-Straße, Braunsfeld, following a suspected pickpocketing incident. The suspect is accused of stealing a 55-year-old man's wallet from Aachener Straße / Gürtel station on Tuesday night.

The alleged theft occurred during a crowded evening at the station. The suspect, in an attempt to distract the victim, asked him for a cigarette. After the victim complied, the suspect made his move and pickpocketed the victim.

However, the suspect's escape did not go unnoticed. A 24-year-old resident of Cologne, who was in the vicinity, noticed the incident and quickly sprang into action. He ran after the fleeing suspect, called the police emergency number, and continuously provided location updates, enabling the police to apprehend the suspect shortly after.

The suspect is now facing proceedings for both theft and threatening behaviour. It is alleged that during his escape, the suspect threatened a witness with a weapon. However, no weapon was found on the suspect during his apprehension.

The suspect's homeless status in Germany is relevant to the current proceedings. The proceedings for both theft and threatening behaviour have been initiated against the suspect, and he is scheduled to appear before a judge today.

The 24-year-old Cologne resident's quick thinking and vigilance played a crucial role in the apprehension of the suspected pickpocket. His actions serve as a reminder of the importance of public vigilance and prompt action in such situations.
