Law enforcement actions: multiple detentions and attacks on police personnel

In a bid to strengthen the safety of citizens in the Bergisches Städtedreieck, control actions to combat street violence, particularly knife crime, were carried out in Wuppertal and Solingen on October 9.

The operations, which involved a large number of uniformed and plainclothes officers from Wuppertal police and the mobile police unit, were primarily focused on combating street crime. A key development during these operations was the arrest of a 23-year-old German who was wanted on an arrest warrant.

During the control of the individual, a switchblade was seized. Further investigations led to criminal proceedings against the 23-year-old, due to the discovery of additional intoxicants. A subsequent search of the person's residence also revealed further intoxicants.

Unfortunately, the operations were not without incident. In Solingen, police officers were attacked during a routine noise disturbance check at a pub on Hasselstraße. The landlord, a 49-year-old, refused to provide identification, leading to resistance by a 20-year-old employee and a 19-year-old guest. The three individuals assaulted the officers, causing minor injuries, and were consequently arrested and taken into custody.

The operations in Solingen also resulted in the arrest of three other persons wanted on arrest warrants. In Wuppertal-Oberbarmen, a 29-year-old Guinean was controlled, and a prohibited amount of marijuana was seized.

It's worth noting that the 23-year-old German resisted arrest, causing minor injuries to an officer. The control actions will continue in Wuppertal at irregular intervals, aiming to maintain the safety of the city's residents.

These operations underscore the ongoing commitment of law enforcement to address street crime and ensure the safety of the public in Wuppertal and Solingen.
