Launches a new era with BMW iX3, offering an estimated 800 kilometers of range and groundbreaking technology

The automotive world was abuzz with excitement as BMW unveiled its next-generation iX3 SUV at the IAA Mobility show in Munich. This groundbreaking vehicle marks the first model of BMW's New Class generation and will be produced in Munich, Germany, where it was also developed and premiered.

The iX3 showcases BMW's latest design direction, with simplified lines, monolithic surfaces, and a strong SUV stance. Highlights of its exterior design include vertically stacked LED headlights, illuminated kidney grilles, and a low drag coefficient of 0.24.

Stepping inside the iX3, you'll find a wraparound cockpit and the new BMW Panoramic iDrive operating system. Physical controls return for core functions such as volume, climate, and indicators, addressing criticism of earlier ID models. Information is projected across the windscreen via Panoramic Vision, paired with a 3D head-up display and a 17.9-inch central screen.

The iX3 is not just a stylish vehicle; it's also a smart one. It features upgraded sensors, AI-based driver interaction, and collaborative steering and braking systems for advanced automated driving functions. The "Heart of Joy" drivetrain controller integrates powertrain, braking, and energy recuperation.

BMW prioritized circularity in the iX3, with one-third of materials sourced from recycled content. The company claims that 98% of braking events can be handled by regeneration alone, minimizing wear on physical brakes.

The iX3's lifetime carbon footprint is 34% lower than its predecessor's due to reduced lifecycle carbon emissions and production using renewable energy. The new 108kWh cylindrical-cell battery provides up to 805km of range (WLTP).

Good news for Australian car enthusiasts! Australian-bound vehicles are scheduled to roll off the line in early 2026. Local deliveries of the iX3 are expected by mid-year, with the iX3 50 xDrive variant being the first to be delivered in Australia.

The iX3 50 xDrive employs dual electric motors, producing 345kW and 645Nm. Its charging capacity doubles to 400kW, allowing more than 350km of range to be added in just 10 minutes.

The Neue Klasse architecture, which underpins the iX3, focuses on electrification, digitalisation, and sustainability. Production of the iX3 will begin in Hungary later this year. The iX3 is indeed a testament to BMW's commitment to innovation, sustainability, and delivering vehicles that redefine the automotive industry.
