Giorgio Armani, one of the most influential figures in the fashion industry, passed away peacefully at the age of 91 in his Milan home. The cause of his death was not disclosed, but it is known that he had been struggling with health issues.

Armani, who had a net worth of $12 billion, was a visionary in the world of fashion. He began creating clothing collections at the age of 36 and didn't launch his namesake company until he was 41. His designs were known for their refined and expensive simplicity, using neutral or natural shades.

Before making a name for himself in the fashion world, Armani worked as a photographer's assistant, served in the army, and eventually landed a job as a sales assistant in a large Milan department store. He quickly rose through the ranks, becoming a window dresser and then a buyer.

In 1961, he joined the menswear brand "Hitman" as an assistant designer. It was here that he honed his skills and began to develop his own unique style. After several years, he left "Hitman" to start his own brand, which would eventually become one of the most successful in the world.

Apart from the Armani Group, Armani owned numerous properties, including a hotel in the Burj Khalifa skyscraper in Dubai, the Armani Hotel Milan, villas in Saint-Tropez and Forte dei Marmi, and a 10% stake in the world's largest eyewear corporation. He also collaborated with developers to furnish his boutiques and later expanded to author hotels and complexes worldwide.

Armani's fashion house released several lines of clothing, footwear, and accessories, including Giorgio Armani (couture), Emporio Armani (elegant and sportswear), EA7 (sports and active wear), and Armani Exchange (affordable clothing for a wide audience). Armani/Casa, a division dedicated to creating furniture, textiles, and decor, was founded in 2000.

Celebrities like Demi Moore, BeyoncΓ©, Rihanna, Julia Roberts, and Charlize Theron have been fans of the Armani brand. In fact, Demi Moore's gold Armani dress was named the most beautiful at the 2025 Golden Globes.

Armani never married or had children, but his closest companion was his niece Roberta, who works in his company and is often referred to as the main heir to his legacy. Giorgio Armani designated a gradual, organic transition to close family members including his nieces Silvana and Roberta, his sister Rosanna and her son Andrea Camerana, as well as his longtime confidant and partner Leo Dell'Orco, but did not appoint a single successor or successor woman explicitly before his death.

The Armani Club House Moscow Residences, a project by Giorgio Armani, is located in the heart of historic Moscow, near the "Golden Triangle of Arts." The residences feature panoramic windows, French balconies, and interior design personally overseen by Giorgio Armani.

Armani's influence on the fashion industry will be felt for years to come. He was a true pioneer and his designs will continue to inspire future generations of fashion designers. Rest in peace, Giorgio Armani.
