The Philadelphia Eagles, fresh off their Super Bowl LIX victory, have made another strategic move to strengthen their roster. In August 2023, they signed running back Tank Bigsby from the Jacksonville Jaguars, adding a fourth option at the running back position.

Bigsby, who was the Jaguars' leading rusher last season, recorded 766 rushing yards and seven touchdowns. His arrival provides strong support behind starter Saquon Barkley, who is one of five players wearing a gold NFL crest on their jerseys this season.

In their win over the Dallas Cowboys, Barkley recorded 18 carries for 60 yards. With Bigsby's addition, the Eagles now have a formidable duo that could pose a significant threat to opposing defences.

Head coach Liam Coen of the Eagles had previously mentioned that it would be challenging to have four running backs on the 53-man roster. However, with Bigsby's versatility and impressive statistics, it seems the Eagles have found a way to make it work.

Bigsby ranked third in the NFL in average yards after contact and 13th in missed tackles forced. Despite these statistics, Bigsby was only ever the backup to Travis Etienne with the Jaguars. Etienne had a standout performance in Week 1, recording 143 yards from 16 attempts.

The trade involved giving up a fifth and sixth-round pick package in the 2026 NFL Draft. Gregg Rosenthal of NFL Daily podcast host posted that the Eagles have invested to construct the best inside linebacker duo in football while pouring resources into the running back position.

This trade is one of several that the Eagles' general manager, Howie Roseman, has made over the last few months. The Eagles have also acquired wide receiver John Metchie III and offensive tackle Fred Johnson.

The Eagles travel to Arrowhead Stadium to face the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night, in a repeat of Super Bowl LIX where they were a dominant 40-22 winner. Fans are praising general manager Howie Roseman for his deal-making skills, as the Eagles continue to build a formidable team for the upcoming season.
