Las Vegas Shooting Claims Life of Unfortunate Onlooker
Last weekend, a bystander was killed during a shooting on the Las Vegas Strip. The unfortunate incident occurred when a pedestrian was hit by a stray bullet meant for another person. The incident happened at around 11:36 pm on the sidewalk of Las Vegas Boulevard South. The victim, who remains unnamed, was immediately rushed to University Medical Center but later succumbed to his injuries.
From police reports, the victim had no connection whatsoever with the two men engaged in a confrontation. The shooter, identified as Marvin Williams, 27, was allegedly aiming his gun towards a man he had got into a quarrel with. This information was aired by KVVU, a local TV station.
Williams, who is now facing charges, is yet to appear before a judge in Las Vegas. He has been charged with open murder and discharging a firearm into an occupied structure. Currently, he is incarcerated at the Clark County Detention Center.
Details about the dispute between Williams and his target are still unclear. However, it's confirmed that neither Williams nor the third man involved in the fight sustained serious injuries.
The Clark County Coroner's office is presently conducting an autopsy on the victim to ascertain the cause of his death. The procedure should establish the number of times the victim was shot and the exact location of his wounds. There's also a high chance of the victim's identity becoming public knowledge after the autopsy.
The scene of the crime can be found near the intersection of Oakey Boulevard. Initially, the shooting was reported to have taken place at 1507 Las Vegas Boulevard South, which is the address of Boston Pizza Vegas. It's unknown whether the restaurant played a part in the shooting.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's (LVMPD) Homicide Section is in charge of the investigation into the homicide. It's speculated that detectives scoured the scene for evidence, witnesses, and any potential security camera footage over the weekend.
The Las Vegas Strip has seen its fair share of violent crimes over the past few years.
