In a move to enhance the region's transportation network, Governor Vladimir Solodov of Kamchatka Krai has announced a significant investment in road repairs. A total of 5 billion rubles has been allocated for this purpose in 2025.

The funds will be divided between federal highways and regional roads. Approximately 3.7 billion rubles will come from the federal budget, while 1.3 billion will be provided by the regional budget.

Work on federal highways has already commenced, with roadworks starting on April 30. Repairs are underway on the Mil'kovo - Klyuchi - Ust-Kamchatsk highway (km 389-407), the Nachikinskoye sovkhoz - Ust-Bolsheretsk road (km 5-10), and the road from Yelizovo to the village of Paratunka. A total of 16,000 square meters of federal highways have been repaired so far, with an additional 21,000 square meters planned for repair.

On regional roads, work has been done on sections from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky to Mil'kovo (km 66-78) and from the regional capital to Yelizovo and Paratunka (km 24-29). Over 5,000 square meters of regional roads have already been treated, with an additional 34,000 square meters planned for treatment. Work is also planned towards the village of Sokocha.

In a recent working meeting on roadworks in the regional capital, an additional 700 million rubles were allocated for pothole repairs and bus shelter replacement in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. This additional allocation will contribute to improving the city's infrastructure and commuting experience for its residents.

This investment in Kamchatka Krai's road infrastructure is expected to bring about improvements in the region's connectivity, facilitating the movement of goods and people, and boosting the local economy.
