Large-scale operation of emergency services and police results in success
The Northeim district witnessed a significant emergency exercise on Tuesday, 22.10.2024, from 10:00 AM to 14:00 PM. The integrated rescue control center of LK Northeim, rescue vehicle crews, emergency doctors from almost all rescue stations in the district, the local rescue service management, and the police forces from Northeim, Einbeck, Bad Gandersheim, and Uslar participated in the exercise.
The joint exercise was designed to test the coordinated action of rescue services and police in connection with a life-threatening situation. The scenario involved a conflict between two rival groups, resulting in several severe and fatal injuries. Approximately 130 people from the police and rescue services of the Northeim district took part in the exercise, with around 40 people from the reserve police representing the injured and affected persons.
In the months leading up to the exercise, several internal and joint training events of the police and rescue services had taken place to ensure optimal preparedness. The deployment forces were given no prior knowledge of the specific situation, location, or scope to practice processes in a realistic manner.
The exercise was carried out with high professionalism and great commitment. Both the Police Inspectorate Northeim and the Northeim district showed professional preparedness in managing such situations together. Maren Jäschke, the head of the Northeim police inspection, led the exercise, while Marc-Dennis Pülm, head of operations of the Police Inspectorate Northeim, summarized the exercise as extremely challenging and demanding.
The communication between the authorities with security tasks was tested during the exercise. The deployment forces demonstrated excellent preparation and effective internal communication during the exercise. The exercise was held in Einbeck, OT Pinkler.
A detailed cross-organizational follow-up will take place after the exercise to evaluate its success and identify areas for improvement. The Northeim police expressed gratitude to all participating deployment forces, actors, and the population for their cooperation and understanding. The exercise was a supplement to press release 5892299, and contact information for inquiries is available at the Police Inspectorate Northeim Press Office.
