Landkreis of Regensburg acquires a versatile watercraft for the Wörth Fire Department
The Wörth fire department in Regensburg, Bavaria, has received a new multipurpose boat, marking a significant upgrade in their fire and disaster protection capabilities. The acquisition was initiated by County Fire Chief Wolfgang Scheuerer in 2024, replacing a predecessor model that had been in service for nearly 30 years.
The new boat, central to the fire department's deployment means, is a versatile tool capable of performing a variety of tasks. It is used in accordance with the Bavarian Fire Protection Act for tasks such as oil barrier laying, searching for missing persons, evacuations, and fighting fires from the water.
The decision to replace the boat was made to ensure long-term operational readiness. With the age of the predecessor boat almost 30 years old and repairs becoming increasingly expensive due to its age, it was no longer practical due to the scarcity of spare parts and the high cost of repairs.
The handover ceremony took place on August 28, 2025, with Bavarian State Minister Tanja Schweiger in attendance. The new boat significantly contributes to the safety of citizens throughout the district, serving as a crucial element in regional disaster control.
In addition to fire and disaster protection, the boat is also used for tasks such as oil barrier laying and missing person searches. It operates in the context of regional disaster control according to the Bavarian Fire Protection Act.
A test run for the new boat took place on August 31, 2025, ensuring that the fire department is fully prepared to utilise this new asset for the benefit of the citizens of Regensburg. The multipurpose boat's roles include evacuations and fighting fires from the water, making it an invaluable asset for the fire department in maintaining the safety of the district.
