Lambrecht advocates for an enhancement in the count of conspiracy believers

In a bid to combat the spread of conspiracy theories and ensure sustainable financing for democracy-strengthening projects, Justice Minister Christine Lambrecht (SPD) has proposed the introduction of a Democracy Promotion Law. This law, known as the "Demokratieförderungsgesetz" (Democracy Promotion Act), is a key priority for the SPD side of the federal government.

Lambrecht emphasized the need for this law, citing the rise of ideologies that are directed against democracy and the liberal society, which she believes are behind some conspiracy theories. She pointed out that the state reaches its limits with some conspiracy believers, such as those who claim Germany is ruled by lizards.

However, Lambrecht stressed that the ministry cannot and does not want to ban such nonsense. Instead, she highlighted the importance of strengthening critical thinking in schools to prevent children from falling for conspiracy theories. She also called for more enlightenment for critical handling of information on the internet.

Meanwhile, a demonstration of corona skeptics took place, as reported by dts Nachrichtenagentur. The news agency captured, documented, and published a report on this demonstration. The SPD politician, Christine Lambrecht, stated that extremists often use grossly false claims and fake news that spread rapidly online.

Lambrecht did not specify the exact measures that will be taken under the proposed democracy promotion law. However, she emphasized that the law will institutionalize enlightenment about conspiracy theorists with a democracy promotion clause.

The temporary financial basis for societal projects to strengthen democracy, according to Lambrecht, makes it difficult for organizations to plan long-term and retain competent employees. The proposed law aims to address this issue by providing sustainable financing for these projects.

The SPD side of the federal government is united and clear on the need for a democracy promotion law. By implementing this law, the government aims to promote a more informed and critical society, and counter the spread of conspiracy theories and misinformation.
