Labeling solutions partnership between Siegwerk and Ravenwood for linerless label production
Siegwerk and Ravenwood Packaging have joined forces to develop and market an integrated linerless label system, set to be showcased at the upcoming LabelExpo in Barcelona, Spain, from September 16-19, 2025.
The partnership aims to accelerate the adoption of sustainable linerless label solutions, offering benefits such as increased label yield per roll, reduced storage and transportation costs, and improved sustainability. One of the key products resulting from this collaboration is the EcoShear label, designed for one-way glass recycling.
CCL Label, a leading innovator in the label industry, has also launched its own version of the EcoShear label, optimized for one-way glass recycling. This new product guarantees easy recycling at the end of its life, maximizing glass recovery, and reducing landfill glass waste to 1.5kg per tonne.
The EcoShear label is said to reduce label contamination to just 2%, a significant improvement over traditional labeling methods. This reduction in contamination is beneficial for recycling, as it minimizes the risk of impurities in the recycled glass.
Siegwerk has developed and submitted two BPA-free release varnishes approved for use on Ravenwood's linerless label systems. These varnishes are compliant for nutrition, pharmaceutical, and hygiene applications, ensuring safety and quality for a wide range of products.
The Nobac 40B Bottle Labeller, an entry-level airless, linerless applicator unveiled by Ravenwood Packaging in June, offers increased label yield with up to 40% more labels per roll. Fewer reel changes, less downtime, and increased productivity are the results of this improved label yield.
The EcoShear label is said to be beneficial for reducing label contamination in recycling, and it guarantees easy recycling at the end of its life. This makes it a promising solution for companies looking to reduce their environmental impact while maintaining productivity.
The integrated linerless label system developed by Siegwerk and Ravenwood Packaging is set to revolutionize the label industry, offering a more sustainable, efficient, and cost-effective solution for labeling products.
