India and Japan Collaborate on Green Hydrogen Project
India is poised to take a leading role in the global green hydrogen market, thanks to its abundant renewable resources. This ambition has received a significant boost with the announcement of a joint development agreement between L&T Energy GreenTech (LTEG) and Itochu Corporation.
The focus of this collaboration is the "300 ktpa green ammonia project" at Kandla in Gujarat. This project, developed under the agreement, is not explicitly stated to be a wholly owned subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro (L&T), but it is part of L&T's efforts to advance clean energy solutions.

The National Green Hydrogen Mission of India seeks to attract investments exceeding $100bn and aims to achieve a production capacity of at least 5 million metric tonnes per year by 2030. This project at Kandla is intended for use in bunkering applications, contributing to India's clean energy goals.
