In a shocking turn of events, Russian forces have deliberately and consciously attacked civilian targets in Kyiv, the capital city of Ukraine. The attacks, part of a massive Russian drone assault on the city, have resulted in numerous high-rise buildings being damaged and civilian casualties being reported.

The drone attacks on residential buildings in the Sviatoshynskyi and Darnytskyi districts of Kyiv were particularly devastating. The first hit on a government building in Kyiv was reported, with a fire breaking out on the second and third floors of a four-storey building in the Darnytskyi district, partially destroying the second floor.

Cars near a service station and storage facilities were also engulfed in flames in the aftermath of the Russian attack. The destruction did not end there, as fires broke out in two other nine-storey buildings due to the Russian assault.

Two residential buildings in the Sviatoshynskyi district were struck by Russian drones: a nine-storey and a sixteen-storey building. The nine-storey residential building in the Sviatoshynskyi district sustained severe damage, specifically to the third to seventh floors. A four-storey residential building in the Darnytskyi district also suffered damage due to the attack.

The air-raid warning was issued in Kyiv and a number of regions, with the warning remaining in effect for over seven and a half hours before the all-clear was given at 05:19. During this time, five people, including a pregnant woman, were taken to the hospital due to the enemy attack on the capital.

Sadly, the attacks have claimed lives. Three people have been reported dead: a baby, a woman, and an elderly woman who died in a shelter. Another death was reported later, an elderly woman in a shelter in the Darnytskyi district, bringing the total number of fatalities to four. Additionally, 24 people have been injured, with the number rising to 25 due to the reported death of an elderly woman in a shelter.

At 07:46, the all-clear was given in the capital, offering a glimmer of hope amidst the destruction and loss. The Ukrainian people continue to show resilience in the face of adversity, and the world stands with them in solidarity.
