Kübler’s High-Visibility Workwear Earns New Safety Certifications for Medium-Risk Jobs
Workwear manufacturer Kübler has expanded its range of high-visibility clothing to meet the latest safety standards. Several of its collections now carry Type B2 certification under DIN EN 17353, a regulation covering medium-risk environments. The updated certification ensures better protection for workers in both daylight and low-light conditions.
DIN EN 17353 is a Category 2 personal protective equipment (PPE) standard designed for leisure and professional settings with moderate visibility risks. It outlines three types of protective gear: Type A for fluorescent materials in daylight, Type B for retro-reflective materials in darkness, and Type AB, which combines both for mixed conditions. Clothing meeting Type AB must also comply with either B2 or B3 specifications, requiring reflective and fluorescent elements on the limbs (B2) or on both limbs and torso (B3).
TÜV SÜD has certified Kübler’s Activiq, Bodyforce, multinorm Protectiq, and Protectiq Welding collections with the additional Type B2 classification. This means the garments now feature enhanced reflective and fluorescent materials for improved visibility. The company also offers retrofitting services, allowing customers to upgrade existing clothing with high-quality reflective materials for better twilight and night-time visibility.
Under the standard, employers must provide DIN EN 17353-certified clothing free of charge, ensure proper hygienic reprocessing, and conduct annual safety training for workers. Kübler plans to extend certification to more product lines, targeting groups exposed to medium-level visibility risks in the future.
The new certifications strengthen Kübler’s position in the high-visibility workwear market. Employers using these products must follow strict PPE regulations, including mandatory provision, maintenance, and training. The updated collections aim to improve safety for workers in environments where visibility is critical.
