KPMG US Foundation awards grant to Birmingham Promise organization
In a significant move to empower the future of Birmingham City Schools, KPMG has announced a grant of $112,500 to Birmingham Promise. This three-year partnership aims to strengthen pathways to college and career success for BCS students.
The funds, primarily intended for scholarships, will extend Birmingham Promise's existing efforts in providing tuition assistance to over 1,600 graduates, covering up to four years of tuition in public Alabama colleges and universities.
Samantha Williams, executive director of Birmingham Promise, expressed her enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, "We are thrilled to collaborate with KPMG in our mission to support the education and career growth of Birmingham City Schools students."
Casey Bartok, KPMG Birmingham office managing partner, shared similar sentiments, expressing pride in the collaboration. He said, "We are proud to support Birmingham Promise in its mission to build healthier communities through education and other programs."
This collaboration is part of KPMG's nationwide initiative to provide over $2 million this summer to various organisations that align with their focus on education and community development.
Birmingham Promise, an initiative that has also provided internships to over 350 BCS seniors to help them develop job skills and career connections, can be followed on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. More information about the organisation can be found on their website.
KPMG's U.S. Foundation's website and Corporate Responsibility website are also available for those interested in learning more about the company's philanthropic efforts.
It's worth noting that Birmingham Promise received additional financial support from the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham in spring 2023, with a focus on education, mental health, and livable communities.
The total amount of $15 million in tuition assistance provided by Birmingham Promise to date continues to make a significant impact in the lives of BCS graduates, paving the way for a brighter future.
