European Handball Championship Competition - Knorr holds an edge at home against an intimidated rival.
This Saturday, Flensburg-Handewitt takes on Dinamo Bucharest and their coach Xavi Pascual, formerly of FC Barcelona, at 3pm, live on Dyn. In the second semi-final between all-German teams, the Rhein-Neckar Löwen and star player Juri Knorr face Füchse Berlin at 6pm on Dyn. The grand finale is planned for Sunday at 6pm on Dyn.
Knorr has "home court advantage" against the handball opponents
Based on statistics alone, the Berliners appear to be the frontrunners. The last seven games in the Bundesliga have all been won by Füchse. Rhein-Neckar Löwen hasn't managed a win since February 21, 2021 (29:23).
It's almost like a "home game" for national player Knorr, who has fully recovered from a bad cold. He was born in Flensburg, and his family and several friends and acquaintances are expected to be there to cheer him on at the Hamburg Arena.
Berlin's center, Mijajlo Marsenic (31), shows a mix of respect and confidence: "We're not taking the Lions lightly, but they're a team we've played well against and have a good track record against. The Lions work well for us."
Foxes goalkeeper Dejan Milosavljev (28): "We've been victorious in the last three years against the Lions, and our coach has made sure we're fully prepared for this showdown."
Coach Jaron Siewert (30): "We've built up some upcoming momentum from the last few games. However, we need to adjust our mentality and tension to prepare for the weekend."
Siewert discusses Knorr's Mannheim team and their rollercoaster season: "The Lions put on a stellar performance in the European League and consistently show excellent goalkeeper-defender coordination. In the Bundesliga, they haven't always met their top standards, but we've seen in Kiel what they're capable of when they bring their A-game to a single game. Even though our record is strong, we're highly cautious; anything can happen in a Final4. Our goal for the season is to defend our title that we've already won."
