Kitchen Trends Foreseen in 2025 by a Designer and Forecaster - Simple Renovations to Replicate
In the world of kitchen design, the year 2025 is set to bring a fresh wave of trends that will transform the heart of our homes. Here's a glimpse into what's expected to be popular in the coming years.
Warm-stained woods are expected to take centre stage, replacing the previous trend of white oak wood. This shift towards warmer tones is likely to create a cosier and inviting atmosphere in kitchens.
Another notable trend is the use of copper and other interesting metals beyond the usual suspects of stainless steel and gold. These metals are set to add a unique touch to kitchen designs, offering a modern twist to traditional kitchen aesthetics.
For those seeking a more compact addition, there are two wooden items available. A larger piece, 11" W x 18" H, is priced at $49, while a smaller one, 16" L x 7" W x 2" H, is also available for the same price.
Unique features to introduce in kitchens for 2025 include highly modular kitchen cabinets with integrated space optimization, smart kitchen islands, and the use of recycled and sustainable materials. Minimalist designs with natural warm tones like brown and beige are also expected to be popular, as are incorporations of advanced smart devices to combine aesthetics with functionality and sustainability.
Designers in 2025 may also opt for darker woods and richer colors, as well as warmer-toned wood finishes. Zellige tiles, with their handcrafted imperfect quality, are expected to remain popular, offering various colour, shape, and pattern options. These tiles can be used creatively for backsplashes, baseboards, and trims.
Textured glass is set to be a popular trend, particularly in upper cabinets and island drawers. This trend offers a way to add visual depth and character to a kitchen, and can also be easier to maintain than clear glass. It's even possible to achieve the textured glass look on existing glass-fronted cabinets using films available on the market.
Kailee Blalock, a design expert, predicts a shift towards softer, more natural textures in textured glass, such as waved or Flemish glass. She also predicts that kitchen hardware trends will move away from polished finishes towards unlacquered metal styles, resulting in a patinaed look.
Samples of Zellige tiles are 4" x 4", and a pack of 4 covers 2.22 sqft. (each tile is 9" x 9"). A pack of 4 Zellige tiles is priced at $16.89.
Exotic woods like burled wood may also make an appearance in interiors in 2025. Wood-drenching or adding chic wooden accents can give a kitchen a rustic yet stylish look.
Lastly, unlacquered metal finishes can be introduced through larger moments like the faucet, or smaller commitments like antiqued metal vases, or unlacquered cabinet knobs and pulls. A 37" high wooden item is available for $172.33 (32% off from its original price of $255).
Embrace these trends and transform your kitchen into a modern, sustainable, and stylish space in 2025.
