Kicks off the concert season 2025/2026, Tabita Berglund takes the helm as the initial guest conductor

The Dresden Philharmonic is set to stage an exciting concert in August 2025, as part of their new concert season themed "New Worlds." This time, the orchestra will be led by Tabita Berglund, who is making her debut as the first guest conductor of the Dresden Philharmonic.

The concert will take place at the Kulturpalast on Friday, 29 August 2025, and Saturday, 30 August 2025, at 7:00 PM. The programme promises a captivating blend of classical masterpieces and contemporary works.

Berglund has invited Truls Mørk, a cellist of international renown, as soloist for the concert. Mørk will perform Dvořák's Cello Concerto in B minor, a piece that showcases his exceptional skills and emotional depth.

The concert will also feature Béla Bartók's Concerto for Orchestra, a complex and dynamic work that perfectly encapsulates the spirit of "New Worlds." This will be followed by the epilogue, "Song of the Earth" ("Jordens sang"), a large-scale oratorio for orchestra, choir, and soloists, composed by Rolf Gupta.

"Song of the Earth" is a powerful and moving work that explores themes of life, death, and the human condition. It serves as a poignant and thought-provoking conclusion to the concert.

The Dresden Philharmonic, under Berglund's expert guidance, will deliver a performance that promises to be both thrilling and emotionally resonant.

Tickets for the concert can be obtained through the Dresden Philharmonic's ticket service at www.dresdnerphilharmonie.de. Don't miss this opportunity to witness Berglund's debut as the first guest conductor of the Dresden Philharmonic and experience the power of classical music.
