THW Bayern Prepared for UEFA Euro 2024 in Munich

The Technical Relief Organisation (THW) Bayern, a regional division of the THW, is gearing up for the UEFA European Football Championship (UEFA Euro 2024) in Munich. The tournament will take place from June 14 to July 14, 2024, and the THW Bayern will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and smooth running of the event.

The THW's work encompasses a wide range of technical and logistical tasks. Carrier teams consisting of four persons will be set up in the Munich football arena to rescue injured persons from the steep stands. Up to 70 ambulance vehicles with medical personnel will be on standby to quickly deploy to the stadium in case of an emergency.

In addition to these rescue operations, the THW Bayern will also be responsible for logistics, catering, and specialist advice. Six matches will be held in Munich, with 24 local units from North and South Bavaria active on all match days. At peak times, around 200 THW personnel will be deployed in Munich.

The THW's work extends beyond Germany, including tasks within the European Union and for UN organizations. The THW's specialists, technology, and experience are in demand worldwide by the federal government. The THW provides aid bilaterally and within the framework of the European Union's civil protection mechanism and for UN organizations.

The THW is a federally funded deployment organization with around 88,000 volunteers nationwide. The THW Landesverband Bayern can be contacted at (089) 15 91 51-0 or via email at [email protected]. For more information about the THW's commitment at home and abroad, visit www.jetzt.thw.de.

Furthermore, four THW specialist advisors from Bavaria and eleven members of the Virtual Operations Support Team (VOST) will support the International Police Coordination Center (IPCC) in North Rhine-Westphalia during the European Championship on a 24-hour basis. The VOST observes the situation on the internet and social media and prepares this information for deployment planning.

The THW Landesverband Bayern is based in Munich, and their website is located at https://www.thw.de/DE/THW/Organisation/Bundesanstalt/Landesverbaende/BY/by_node.html. The THW Bayern will support the civil and disaster protection organization with their specialist expertise during the UEFA Euro 2024 in Munich.

The opening match will be held in Munich on June 14, and the THW Bayern is ready to ensure the safety and success of the tournament. With their extensive experience and commitment, they are well-equipped to handle any challenges that may arise during the championship.
