Kentucky's 2025 Hall of Fame snubs Northern Kentucky for second straight year
The Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) has announced its 2025 Hall of Fame class. Twelve individuals from across the state will be honoured this year. Among them, six hail from Louisville and Lexington, while none come from Northern Kentucky for the second year running. The KHSAA Hall of Fame was established in 1988. Since then, 36 Northern Kentuckians have been inducted—about seven percent of the total members. This figure stands out, given that the region makes up roughly 10 percent of Kentucky's 4.58 million residents.
Homer Rice became the first Northern Kentuckian to enter the Hall of Fame in its inaugural year. The most recent group of five from the area was inducted in 2023. No Northern Kentuckian has been included in the 2024 or 2025 classes, breaking a pattern of occasional representation. Charlie Coleman's book, *Northern Kentucky Sports Legends of the 1950s*, highlights over a dozen potential candidates from that decade. However, no specific achievements from that era have been formally recognised in the latest induction cycle. Nomination forms for future classes remain available on the KHSAA's official website.
This year's inductees will join a long list of honoured athletes, coaches, and contributors. For further details, interested parties can contact Dan Weber at [email protected]. The 2025 class reflects a continued focus on individuals from Louisville and Lexington, while Northern Kentucky's presence remains absent for another year.
