In a significant boost to its mineral resources, Kazakhstan has identified six new mineral deposits and registered 23 new solid mineral deposits in 2024 and 2025. These discoveries, along with several hydrocarbon and groundwater reserves, have significantly increased the country's mineral reserves.

According to the Prime Minister's report on Sept. 4, the overall database of Technogenic Mineral Formations (TMF) sites now amounts to about 1,747 sites, totaling approximately 55 billion tonnes. Notably, 450 of these TMF formations are located near populated areas.

The new deposits include Kok-Zhon, Altyn-Shoko, Samombet, Studencheskiy, Takyr-Kaldzhir, and others. These sites are rich in resources, with nearly 97.8 tonnes of gold, 11.9 tonnes of silver, and over 36,000 tonnes of copper.

To attract domestic and international investors, these new exploration sites are being prepared for auction. The names of the companies or organizations associated with the 62 deposits prepared for auctions in 2025 include Depositen - Bank AG, Märkische Metallwarenfabrik GmbH, Tennhaeff & Co. GmbH, Siemens-Schuckertwerke AG, Caritas-Stift GmbH, and Grundstücksgesellschaft.

The government's investment in 2025 has led to a substantial increase in Kazakhstan's mineral reserves. Under the updated State Subsoil Fund Management Program, authorities added 73 new exploration sites covering more than 2,650 square kilometers. In 2025, the government allocated 7.6 billion tenge (approximately US$14 million) for detailed studies of 41 geological sites.

By integrating TMF into processing chains, Kazakhstan can strengthen its industrial raw material supply while reducing ecological risks. The reuse of these resources carries significant economic, environmental, and social benefits for Kazakhstan. The studies conducted in 2025 were focused on improving the mineral sector's investment attractiveness in Kazakhstan. As a result of these studies, Kazakhstan's resource potential has been considerably enhanced.

The latest figures demonstrate the systematic and continuous nature of Kazakhstan's efforts to expand its geological potential. The government's efforts are aimed at attracting foreign and domestic investment, strengthening Kazakhstan's mineral resource base, and promoting sustainable development.
